Thirteen medical students at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine were inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) on March 14.

Dr. Margrit Shoemaker, assistant chair of internal medicine and councilor, Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Theta Chapter of Pennsylvania, announced that 17 members of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine's (GCSOM) MD Class of 2019 have earned induction into the highly respected national medical honor society.

Fourteen members of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine's MD Class of 2018 have been inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS). The mission of GHHS is to recognize individuals who are exemplars of humanistic patient care and who can serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine. GHHS honors medical students, residents, fellows, role-model physician teachers and others who demonstrate excellence in humanistic clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service. GHHS currently has more than 25,000 members in training and practice.

Several Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine master of biomedical sciences (MBS) students were inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Lambda Honor Society on May 6. Alpha Epsilon Lambda was founded in 1990 with the specific objective of recognizing the academic and leadership accomplishments of graduate and professional school students.

On May 6, 17 members of the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (Geisinger Commonwealth) MD Class of 2017 were inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. The Geisinger Commonwealth Chapter of AOA recognizes students who have achieved academic excellence during their medical school careers, while also demonstrating professionalism, leadership and service.
